Lansing is the capital of the US state Michigan. The Lansing Metropolitan Area, colloquially referred to as "Mid-Michigan", is an important center for educational, cultural, governmental, business, and high-tech manufacturing institutions, including three medical schools, and two nursing schools.

The greater Lansing area is also home to two law schools including the nation's largest law school (Thomas M. Cooley Law School), a Big Ten Conference university (Michigan State), the state capital, the state Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, a federal court, the Library of Michigan and Historical Center, and headquarters of four national insurance companies.

Lansing is a bar town with several bars of different themes and crowd. There are dive bars that cater to the neighborhood clients and there also high-end bars for the luxurious party goers. Some bars have dance floors, others with gaming amenities, while a few offer intimate atmosphere, and until you hit 21, most of the city’s popular nightclubs will be pretty much off-limits.
